Kaspersky Rescue Disk is a free bootable environment that detects and removes malware from a severely infected computer.
The system comes as an ISO image. Burn this to a DVD or decompress a USB drive and you will be able to boot your computer from it. If your system is already infected with malware, this increases the likelihood that you will be able to remove it successfully, since the malware will not work and therefore cannot apply any tricks to hide from the scan, or prevent itself from being deleted.
Of course, the problem with this approach is that the DVD or USB will always start with the same virus database. Fortunately, Kaspersky Rescue Disk will detect and recognize any network connection, so if you're connected to a router, it will be able to go online and download the latest virus definitions.
After that, the system works like any other antivirus tool. Click the Scan Objects tab, choose Scan your PC, and Kaspersky Rescue Disk will crawl your hard drive for malware and remove anything it finds.
